Are you going to sign up for a virtual or registered office address so you can get a Google Business Profile?

If the answer is yes, then please think carefully if a virtual or registered office address is the right thing for your business. In the last few months Google has tightened up A LOT on issuing business profiles. You can no longer just say you are located at a particular address – you have to prove it. In the section below we reproduce from Google’s website the guidance with regard to your business address (correct as at October 2024).

Google Address Guidance

Use a precise, accurate address and/or service area to describe your business location. P.O. boxes or mailboxes located at remote locations aren’t acceptable.

Create your Business Profile for your actual, real-world location.

  • Businesses can’t list an office at a co-working space unless that office maintains clear signage, receives customers at the location during business hours, and is staffed during business hours by your business staff.
  • Businesses showing their address on Google should maintain permanent fixed signage of their business name at the address.

Businesses that visit customers at their location
Businesses that serve customers at their locations, should have one profile for the central office or location with a designated service area. Service-area businesses can’t list a “virtual” office unless that office is staffed during business hours.

Please note that we cannot provide you with a permanent signboard outside Kingsway House unless you have a serviced office with us.

For registered office address customers we fulfill our legal obligation of displaying your company name on a list in the front window but we are unable to display a signboard.

If your sole purpose for having a virtual or registered office address is to get a local Google Business Profile please do not sign up with us.
